Held under the theme “Cultures Across the World Share Timeless Elegance, United in a Flourishing Future,” this year’s International Culture and Arts Festival was guided by JISU’s motto, “Stronger Will for Solid Souls, Better Communicators across Words and Cultures,” and the university’s commitment to promoting mutual learning among diverse cultures through practice. Over the course of nearly a month, the festival featured a variety of activities, including cultural performances, language competitions, academic lectures, and regional cultural exhibitions. These activities brought together outstanding traditional Chinese culture, Jilin’s regional culture, and diverse cultures from around the world, providing opportunities for young people from China and abroad to connect through the arts and grow together on the same stage.
The special performance at the closing ceremony highlighted the distinctive regional character of Jilin, drawing on the cultural and natural heritage of the Changbai Mountain and Songhua River. It blended traditional Chinese aesthetics, international cultural elements, and contemporary styles. Yang Siyu, Cao Xinyuan, and Sun Ping of the Jilin Provincial Song and Dance Troupe performed “The Red Sun Shines on the Frontier,” “What the World Gives Me,” and “Mother Is China,” respectively, evoking a strong sense of patriotism and conveying heartfelt emotion. JISU students then presented song-and-dance performances including “The Most Dazzling Ethnic Style,” “Wild Man,” and “Lonely Eagle,” bringing youthful energy to the stage. The Jilin Provincial Song and Dance Troupe also presented a series of dance performances, including “The Right Time,” “Drums Resounding in a Flourishing Age,” “Dancing Ice,” “Auspicious Changbai,” “Meet in Jilin,” and “Praise of the Tes River.” Through music and dance, the performances celebrated the times and showcased the beauty of Jilin, highlighting the snowy landscapes of northern China, the rich cultural heritage of the Changbai Mountain, and the vitality and spirit of its diverse ethnic communities.

Rooted in Jilin’s local cultural heritage, the 17th International Culture and Arts Festival provided students with opportunities to engage in cultural exchange, broaden their international perspectives, and strengthen their cultural confidence through stage practice. The festival also served as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world. Moving forward, JISU will continue to integrate culture and practice into talent development, drawing on its strengths in foreign language education and research on the cultures of different countries. The university will further promote mutual learning among civilizations and create more platforms for cultural exchange between young people from China and around the world. Through these efforts, JISU aims to cultivate versatile foreign language professionals who are rooted in Jilin, connected with the world, and equipped with both a strong sense of patriotism and a global outlook.
