On December 25, the award ceremony of the 2025 Jilin Provincial Short Video Contest for International Students at Universities in Jilin Province was held at Jilin University. A total of 19 short videos produced by international students from Jilin International Studies University (JISU) took home awards. Among them, Auspicious Jilin by Venezuelan student Song En won the second prize. Two works claimed the third prize: My Happy Life in Jilin by Russian student He Qila, and Encountering the Border, Guarding Jilin through Language — Secret Route G331: A Time-Spanning Journey of Discovery into “Colorful Jilin” by Lao student Chen Han. Sixteen other entries, including China in My Eyes: A Global Village in an Iron Pot Stew by Russian student Yang Xin, received the Excellence Award.
The award-winning work Auspicious Jilin was screened at the ceremony.
Hosted by Auspicious International Communication Center of Jilin Radio and Television Station, the contest centered on the theme My Happy Life in Jilin and drew enthusiastic participation from international students across the province. With “international expression + local perspective” as their creative approach, the students captured precious moments of their study-abroad experience through the lens, and told authentic, vivid and well-rounded stories of Jilin to the world.
The School of International Exchanges regarded this contest as a practical platform for language teaching, and arranged teachers to provide one-on-one guidance for participating international students. Guided by teachers, students created a number of short videos on themes including campus life, historical and cultural experiences, and urban landscapes. Through the competition, they gained a deeper appreciation of Jilin’s folk customs and urban cultural charm, as well as a more profound understanding of local culture.

Venezuelan student Song En said, “I've always wanted to explore my potential in video editing. This contest, along with the encouragement from my teachers, gave me the courage to give it a try. This is my first time making this kind of video, and I look forward to creating more works in the future. My sincere thanks go to Jilin International Studies University for providing me with quality education and an inspiring learning environment; to all my fellow international students, whose outstanding works keep motivating me to move forward; and to Jilin Province, which has given me so many wonderful experiences and unforgettable warm memories. This award is the most precious souvenir of my time here.”

This contest has served as an important platform for international students to showcase themselves and learn from each other. Seizing this opportunity, the School of International Exchanges will continue to create more cultural exchange opportunities for international students, encourage them to tell stories of Jilin and stories of China in diverse forms, and make positive contributions to promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
