Recently, the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade unveiled the results of its “Balassi Scholarship.” Zhang Ai, Wang Luxin, Yin Jialing, and Liu Bo, all second-year students (Class of 2022) majoring in Hungarian at the School of Central and Eastern European Languages, were awarded with the “Balassi Scholarship for Hungarian Language and Hungarian Studies.” They are set to embark on a 10-month exchange and study program at the Balassi Institute in Hungary.

The “Balassi Scholarship,” sponsored by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is designed to offer scholarship opportunities to non-native Hungarian speakers interested in the Hungarian language, culture, and higher education. The awardees expressed that receiving this scholarship is not merely an acknowledgment of their hard-earned academic achievements but also a pivotal gateway to a wider international arena. They are determined to seize this opportunity to further refine their language skills and expand their global perspectives during their time at Hungarian universities.

The fact that students from the Hungarian major have been selected for the “Balassi Scholarship” stands as a resounding endorsement of JISU’s prowess in nurturing internationally-minded talents. It also serves as a testament to the continuous enhancement of the educational outcomes within the Hungarian major. Looking ahead, JISU will further explore international talent cultivation models and integrate the educational tenet of “master foreign languages, embody Chinese values, and tell China’s stories well” into the entire process of talent development. Through these efforts, JISU aims to cultivate an even greater number of high-quality, application-oriented foreign language and foreign affairs talents.
