The “Mount Qomolangma Cup” Korean Language Short Video Competition for Chinese University Students is jointly organized by CICG Asia-Pacific (including People’s China and China Report), the Foreign Language and Literature Professional Teaching Guidance Committee of Zhejiang Province Universities, and the Hangzhou People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Hosted by Hangzhou Normal University, the competition has become one of the most influential and highly recognized Korean language subject contests in China since its inception in 2021. Officially launched in March 2025 with the theme “The Meaning of Travel,” this year’s competition attracted 311 entries from 89 universities across the country, aiming to enhance university students’ cross-cultural communication skills through Korean language short video creation.

These awards exemplify the success of the School of Oriental Languages’ training model, which integrates “language proficiency, cultural literacy, and hands-on practice.” Teaching teams across various majors incorporate academic competitions into the practical teaching system, guiding students to transform classroom knowledge into cross-cultural communication capabilities. Seizing this achievement as an opportunity, the school will continue to uphold the educational philosophy of “Mastering Foreign Languages, Being a Qualified Chinese Citizen, and Telling China’s Stories Well,” dedicated to cultivating high-quality, application-oriented, interdisciplinary, and internationally-minded talents with both patriotic values and a global perspective.
