Aug 29, 2024 11:18 AM

On the morning of August 24, the closing ceremony of the “Study at JISU” -- Russia’s Higher School of Economics (HSE) Study and Research Camp was held at JISU’s Global Village. A total of 67 students from HSE successfully concluded their 18-day program featuring intensive Chinese language studies and immersive Chinese cultural experiences.

Vice President of JISU, Wang Zhiguo presented certificates of completion to 64 outstanding participants. Song Dandan, Director of JISU’s Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and Dean of the School of International Exchange, and Marina, a faculty representative from HSE, delivered speeches praising the camp’s success and the students’ exceptional performance. Both sides pledged to maintain their strong cooperative relationship and jointly promote mutual progress and development between the two universities.

Five Russian students shared their experiences, unanimously describing their stay at Jilin International Studies University (JISU) as “incredibly enjoyable.” Their program included immersive Chinese language and culture learning, visits to the Zuodanli 159 Ecological Factory and Sanding Transformer Factory, exploration of the Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo, Northeast Folk Museum, and Changchun Century Sculpture Park, hiking in Jingyuetan Forest Park, hands-on workshops for making traditional Chinese dumplings, eating Northeast-style hotpot, and participating in cultural activities like Chinese paper-cutting and Tai Chi kung fu fan performances.

“The delicious meals in JISU’s cafeteria made us reluctant to leave, and the Chinese cheongsams we bought brought us great joy. “We’ve fallen deeply in love with China,” the students sincerely said.

All the participating Chinese and Russian faculty and students posed for a group photo to commemorate the occasion. HSE faculty and students expressed their hope to return to JISU again, using Chinese language as a bridge to build stronger ties for mutual cultural understanding and friendly exchanges.
