Sep 6, 2024 11:19 AM

From August 20 to 26, the “2024 Northeast Asia Exchange Wings in Shimane” program was held in Japan, organized by the Cultural Affairs Division of Shimane Prefecture’s Environment and Living Department. Since establishing sister-state relations 30 years ago, Jilin Province and Shimane Prefecture have maintained frequent exchanges and close cooperation. To strengthen youth talent exchanges and friendship between China and Japan, Jilin International Studies University (JISU) was commissioned by the Jilin Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and sent two students—from the School of Oriental Languages—to represent Jilin Province. They joined in this cross-cultural learning initiative with other participants from around the world.

Focused on global environmental protection, the program aimed to foster mutual understanding and regional cooperation, cultivate a new vision for Northeast Asia, and promote vibrant international youth exchanges. One of the JISU student, Xu Kaitong delivered a speech as the representative at the opening ceremony.

In Shimane, young participants from various countries engaged in cultural exchange activities at Matsue City’s Furusato Forest Park. They shared insights on climate change mitigation, linking their perspectives to their home countries’ environmental contexts. The two students from JISU actively participated in multicultural workshops and forged strong friendships with peers from other regions, embodying JISU’s dynamic and forward-thinking ethos.

JISU attached great importance to this international initiative, organizing pre-departure training with comprehensive support from the Jilin Provincial Foreign Affairs Office. The program further deepened the friendship and cooperation between Jilin Province and Japan’s Shimane Prefecture, providing a valuable platform for the school to advance its international education goals and expand global exchange opportunities for its students and faculty.

The two students expressed their commitment to further broadening their global outlook and enhancing cross-cultural communication skills. They vowed to contribute to effectively telling China’s stories and fostering enduring Sino-Japanese friendship through continuous efforts in their studies.
