The Cultural Communication Center of China International Communications Group (CICG) recently sent a letter of appreciation to Jilin International Studies University (JISU), commending the university for its strong support to the “Overseas Think Tank Tour of Xinjiang” initiative, and highly recognizing the outstanding performance of Dr. Moataz Abdellah (Chinese name: Wang Jianhao), an Egyptian faculty member at JISU.
The letter noted that from November 3 to 9, 2025, 13 experts and scholars from nine countries, including Greece, France, Egypt, and Belgium, traveled to the Kashgar region, Urumqi, and Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, visiting hospitals, schools, museums, and pilot free trade zones to gain first-hand understanding of Xinjiang’s economic and social development, opening-up and cooperation, cultural preservation and innovation, and improvements in people’s livelihoods. The university actively facilitated the participation of Dr. Moataz Abdellah in the tour, during which he demonstrated great enthusiasm and a high level of professionalism. As a seasoned cultural scholar proficient in both Arabic and Chinese, Dr. Moataz Abdellah not only conducted in-depth research on Xinjiang’s development achievements with a rigorous approach, but also actively facilitated efficient interaction among the visiting delegates. Moreover, he leveraged diverse communication channels to present an objective picture of Xinjiang to the international community, making significant contributions to enhancing the international communication impact of the event and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and other countries. His performance fully reflects the university’s profound strength and outstanding accomplishments in cross-cultural exchange.
Dr. Moataz Abdellah remarked, “From the cultural heritage preserved in Kashgar’s Old City to the modern development on display in Urumqi, from the vivid practice of multi-ethnic harmony to the tangible protection of religious freedom, every detail left a profound impression on me. As a cross-cultural researcher, I am particularly moved by Xinjiang’s commitment to preserving the traditional cultures of all ethnic groups while embracing openness and cooperation. The enduring civilizational marks left by the ancient Silk Road remain vivid to this day, providing me with invaluable material for telling authentic China stories to the Arab world. I will incorporate what I have gained from this trip into my teaching and research, and continue to serve as a bridge for China-Arab cultural exchange.”
