The inaugural “Qiangguo Cup” Multilingual International Translation Competition has recently concluded with great success. Li Meiqi, a faculty member from the School of Western European Studies, won the First Prize in the Chinese-to-Foreign (Spanish) category.

The competition was hosted by the Asia-Pacific Communication Center of China International Publishing Group (incorporating People’s China and China Report magazines) and co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Translation Association, the School of European Languages and Cultures at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, the School of European Studies at Xi’an International Studies University, and the School of Asian and African Studies at Xi’an International Studies University, among others. The competition aims to cultivate and identify emerging talent for international communication, promote civilizational exchanges and mutual learning between China and the rest of the world, and jointly build bridges of discourse that connect China with the global community. Featuring eight languages—Arabic, German, French, Korean, Russian, Thai, Spanish, and Italian—the competition was open to university students, language professionals, and language enthusiasts from all sectors.

This achievement fully demonstrates the caliber of the university’s faculty and provides valuable guidance for deepening teaching reform and innovation. The School of Western European Studies will continue to enhance its faculty’s professional expertise and the overall quality of education, laying a solid foundation for cultivating more high-caliber foreign-language talents with patriotic commitment, a global perspective, and professional excellence.
