The China National Model United Nations Conference is a national Model United Nations event hosted by the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China). Held annually since 2004, it aims to promote UN knowledge and ideals among young students and cultivate high-caliber young talent with an international perspective. This year’s conference simulated six UN organs and conferences, conducting general debates and consultations on draft resolutions on topics such as artificial intelligence and international peace and security, multilateral trade, the right to development, the Palestinian-Israeli issue, energy transition, and cybersecurity governance. More than ten experienced former ambassadors, senior diplomats, and former senior officials of international organizations were invited to serve as guest speakers or judges. A total of over 400 student delegates, conference observers, and faculty advisors from more than 100 universities across the country participated in the conference.
This award fully demonstrates the solid professional competence, outstanding cross-cultural communication skills, and broad international vision of JISU students, and serves as a vivid reflection of the University’s commitment to practice-based education. The University will continue to focus on its goal of cultivating high-caliber internationalized talent, continuously optimize its practical teaching system, and provide students with more opportunities for hands-on practice, enabling JISU students to speak up and express themselves confidently on the international stage, and grow into outstanding talents with both a deep sense of patriotism and a global vision.
Reflections from Participants
Lu Yifan, Class 2301, Simultaneous Interpreting, School of English: As a delegate of the GA1 Committee at the 21st China National Model United Nations Conference, I took part in discussions on military AI and international security. The pursuit of multilateral consensus deepened my understanding of global governance. This experience helped me recognize the responsibility of young people. I will continue to hone my abilities in the future and contribute to building a security architecture.
Deng Renjie, Class 2301, International Affairs and International Relations, School of International Relations: Participating in the 21st China National Model United Nations Conference, I experienced the UN’s rules of procedure in a way that closely mirrors reality. Amid the clashes of national positions, I felt the importance of upholding one’s national stance while also realizing that win-win cooperation is the true way forward. This experience has laid a solid practical foundation for my understanding of international affairs. I will carry this gain with me and look forward to making due contributions to real international affairs in the future.
