Recently, the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences (NOPSS) published the preliminary list of proposed projects for the 2025 Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSF). The academic work translation project A History of Picture-Story Books in New China (1949-1999), proposed by Professor Zhang Mi of the Department of Italian at the School of Occidental Languages, was approved as a Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund.

The Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund mainly funds outstanding academic works that represent the academic standards of China, embody the essence of Chinese culture, and reflect the frontiers of Chinese scholarship, with a view to their publication in foreign languages by authoritative publishing houses abroad and distribution through mainstream international channels. It aims to give full play to the exemplary and guiding role of the National Social Science Fund, deepen academic exchanges and dialogue between China and other countries, further expand the international influence of Chinese scholarship, and promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.

The approval of this National Social Science Fund project is a fruit of the long-term dedication and devoted scholarship of JISU faculty members, and also a strong testament to the University’s high priority on research work and its active efforts to foster a favorable research environment. Looking ahead, the University will continue to increase its support for research projects, provide all-round support for project teams, and facilitate the production of high-quality research outcomes.
