JISU and the University of Hormuzgan formalized educational cooperation in July 2023. The Persian Language Department of the School of Oriental Language dispatched 15 exchange students, including Cheng Ruobing and seven peers who commenced 10-month studies in Persian literature, business communication, and Iranian sociocultural studies in September 2024.
Since the outbreak of the conflict between Iran and Israel, JISU has been closely monitoring the situation, formulating emergency plans, and maintaining close contact with students going to study in Iran. After the conflict escalated on June 14th, President Qin He demanded the immediate initiation of a safe evacuation operation. An emergency response team was formed, led by the school’s leadership and composed of relevant officials from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the Student Affairs Office, the School of Oriental Languages, and student affairs teachers. On the one hand, they maintained close contact with the University of Hormuzgan, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Bandar Abbas, and Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai. Clarify detailed evacuation measures and routes; On the other hand, maintain 24-hour uninterrupted contact with students, provide them with psychological counseling and guide them to take safety precautions. At the same time, communicate with parents in real time to inform them of the school’s response measures and the progress of evacuation.

Letter of Gratitude
Dear leaders and teachers of Jilin International Studies University:
Greetings!
I’m the parent of Cheng Ruobing, a student majoring in Persian. My daughter is one of the international students who were evacuated from Abbas Port in Iran during the current Iran-Israel conflict. When she arrived home safely, she told me in detail about this evacuation experience. As a parent, I felt extremely fortunate and grateful. I am writing this letter to express my sincere thanks to the school.
When the news of the conflict broke out came, as a mother, I was filled with anxiety and only hoped that my daughter could return home as soon as possible. My daughter comforted me over the phone, saying that the school immediately established a special task force for the safe evacuation of Persian language students. School leaders, as well as teachers Yue Wenjing from the college and Shen Xudong and Teng Xinyi from the Persian Department, took turns to monitor the situation around the clock and actively maintained contact with the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Bandar Abbas and the University of Hormuzgan. What moved me even more was that Teacher Yu Shanshan, the counselor, personally called to comfort the parents and elaborately explained the school’s emergency response plan. This sense of responsibility and warmth finally gave my heart, which had been in suspense, a place to rely on.
On the afternoon of June 14th, Chong suddenly upgraded, and I fell into worry again. But just a few hours later, my daughter brought good news: under the urgent coordination of the school, all the students had purchased ship tickets to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The school authorities even contacted multiple rescue forces in advance to deal with unexpected situations.
On the morning of June 15th, when the children arrived at the port, I heard that the school would confirm the safety situation with the students every half an hour until all the students successfully boarded the ship. This unwavering commitment to “leaving no one behind” moved parents thousands of miles away to tears.
