From December 26th to 27th, a group of 12 American teachers and students continued their educational and cultural exploration in Changchun, delving into Chinese culture and experiencing the city’s unique charm. Hailing from Saint Peter’s University in the United States, they arrived at Jilin International Studies University (JISU) on December 20 to participate in the “Jimei Study Camp,” a cultural exchange program for Chinese and American youth. This initiative is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and jointly organized by Jilin International Studies University and Saint Peter’s University. During their stay in Changchun, the American delegation visited “The Hill” shopping mall, where they explored a variety of distinctive shops and experienced the city’s vibrant commercial scene. At Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, they gained insights into the theoretical foundations of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional diagnostic methods, and the culture of Chinese herbal medicine, appreciating the profound depth of Chinese medical practices. Additionally, they attended a workshop on Chinese culture at JISU, focusing on the “Chinese Zodiac.” The lecture covered the origins, symbolism, and the significant cultural impact of the zodiac in Chinese tradition.
