On November 6, the social practice activity “Experience China” for Chinese Government Scholarship students, jointly organized by JISU’s International Exchange and Cooperation Office (School of International Exchange) and the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was held. More than 20 international students from six countries, including Indonesia, Mexico, Vietnam, and Russia, visited the Jilin National Advertising Industrial Park, embarking on a unique e-commerce journey.
This event was the first in a series of activities titled “New E-commerce, New Experience,” jointly organized by the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce and the Jilin Provincial Association for International Cultural Exchange. Through on-site visits and exchanges, the international students experienced the vigorous development of Jilin’s e-commerce industry firsthand, sparking their interest and enthusiasm for new e-commerce formats and models.
The Jilin National Advertising Industrial Park, leveraging the “Brand Jilin”, an innovation and entrepreneurship platform, has established a brand marketing industrial base centered on advertising, e-commerce, short videos, and live-streaming. It aims to create a closed-loop ecosystem for brand services, empower the development of Jilin’s brand economy, and fully implement the province’s brand enhancement initiative.
Keeping pace with the times and following the steps of development, the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce has long focused on creating a high-quality industrial ecosystem to gather new momentum for the e-commerce sector. Emphasizing the integration of digital and real economies, the department is promoting the “intelligent transformation and digital upgrade” of commercial enterprises, with plans to complete pilot projects for 3-5 companies this year. The construction of a digital supply chain for health products has been initiated, aiming to transform over 200 types of supply chain products. Support has been provided to food companies like Zhongzhijie and Bazhenwang to establish online stores, broaden sales channels, and build a business big data platform. Highlighting the role of digital commerce in revitalizing agriculture, efforts are being made to accelerate the penetration of new e-commerce into traditional industries such as agriculture, turning live-streaming into “new farm work,” mobile phones into “new farm tools,” and data into “new farm resources.”
At the “Jilin Premium Products” exhibition hall, the overall planning model of the industrial park caught the students’ eyes, with its orderly and unified design earning their admiration for its technological and modern appeal.
In the park’s enterprises, company representatives provided detailed introductions to the students about the development of their businesses and the progress of cross-border e-commerce. Student representatives stepped into the live-streaming rooms of cross-border e-commerce companies, introducing products to international audiences in fluent English. This experience sparked a strong interest among the students in the e-commerce live-streaming industry.
At the “Jilin Internet Celebrity Studio,” international students visited live-streaming exhibition halls featuring specialty products from regions of Jilin Province. They gained a detailed understanding of the functional attributes of each exhibition hall and personally experienced the vigorous development of Jilin’s e-commerce industry, as well as the profound implications of digital empowerment.
“In China, the convenience of online shopping has brought a whole new experience to our lives,” said one student. Visiting the Jilin National Advertising Industrial Park has given them a deeper understanding of the booming e-commerce industry. The students thought that this not only broadened their horizons but also deepened their understanding of Jilin’s e-commerce sector. Makara from Indonesia remarked, “This experience was very meaningful. It gave me a fresh perspective and understanding of Jilin’s development, and I will share the story of Jilin with more people.”
