On June 17, the sub-venue event “A Taste of Ukraine — Ukrainian Cuisine Tasting & Creative Experience” of the 17th International Culture and Art Festival was held at the Ukrainian Village in the Global Village of Jilin International Studies University (JISU). Featuring traditional Ukrainian cuisine and folk handicrafts, the event offered students an immersive cultural journey through food tasting, dumpling making, and Motanka doll crafting — an experience that was both tasty and hands-on.
During the event, international teachers introduced the traditional Ukrainian dumpling (вареники) and invited everyone to sample it. Teachers and students also joined in making Motanka dolls, traditional Ukrainian talismans, gaining a hands-on appreciation of the charm of Ukrinian folk art. A tasting session of Ukrainian chocolates and candies was also arranged.

This event organically combined Ukrainian culinary culture, folk handicrafts, and hands-on student experiences, allowing students to “experience culture through language, and enrich language learning through cultural immersion.” It served as a practical learning platform to further stimulate academic enthusiasm and effectively enhance students’ comprehensive language application skills, intercultural communication competence, practical innovation capabilities, and adaptive development abilities.
