The Thai Language Major at Jilin International Studies University was established in 2020. Oriented toward Jilin Province and multiple provinces across China, it runs programs with outreach to Southeast Asia. Focusing on fields such as economy and trade, tourism, foreign affairs, translation and education, the program is committed to cultivating undergraduate talents with solid Thai‑language proficiency, cross‑cultural communication competence and a global vision. At present, the program has established stable cooperative ties with many Thai higher‑education institutions including Burapha University of Thailand. It adopts joint‑training modes such as “3+1” and “2+2”, and offers diverse programs including student exchange, bachelor‑to‑master pathways and dual‑degree options. These initiatives help students develop bilingual competence in Thai and English as well as interdisciplinary strengths integrating language proficiency with vocational expertise, so as to enhance their global competitiveness. Senior foreign teachers are permanently recruited to deliver core courses, creating a favourable language‑learning environment and laying a solid groundwork for students’ future employment and further studies.
