JISU has consistently dedicated itself to cultivating high-caliber international talents for regional development. Aligning with the imperative to “tell China’s story well, reconstruct discourse systems, and serve international communication,” the university has built a “1+N major foreign languages” disciplinary cluster. This cluster is anchored by translation studies as the driving force and foreign languages and literature as the core. It innovates talent cultivation models such as “multilingual translation + international communication,” focusing on nurturing versatile, high-level translation professionals with firm political convictions, global perspectives, and precise grasp of national strategic needs. To date, four graduates have joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over 200 have taken positions at FAW Group, and numerous alumni hold translation roles in international organizations and Fortune 500 companies.

In recent years, JISU has focused on “advanced translation of Northeast China’s distinctive culture,” proactively implementing the “Translating Jilin” cultural heritage project to fully serve the mission of “promoting Jilin and amplifying its voice.” Centered on “advanced translation of Northeast Asian documents,” the university established the “Regional and Country Studies Institute” to conduct in-depth translations of local chronicles from five Northeast Asian nations. This initiative aims to build a distinctive high-end think tank integrating five core functions: national conditions research, public opinion analysis, document translation, policy advisory services, and talent cultivation. Focusing on “Intelligent Translation and Education,” the university emphasizes interdisciplinary training to meet national language strategy needs. It collaborates with iFLYTEK Co., Ltd. to establish the “Language Big Data Laboratory,” supporting high-end manufacturing enterprises like FAW and China National Bus Group in their international expansion. This initiative positions the university as a cradle for cultivating “multilingual translation plus” talent in Jilin Province and the broader Northeast region, injecting robust momentum into Jilin’s northern opening-up strategy.
