Job Training for New Hires at JISU
Mar 3, 2025 10:17 AM

In order to help newly hired faculty members adapt to the new environment at JISU, our school organized a series of training activities like symposiums, lectures on psychological health and teaching methods, and instructions in course construction in March and April. Thirty-five newly hired employees took part in the training.

After listening to the symposium held by Vice President Zhang Bin, they all expressed that they had a better understanding about JISU’s mission and culture, and they were touched by President Qin He’s spirit of love and devotion to education. They were also surprised at the idea of running a school for public welfare and many titles of becoming “the first one” and “the only one” in China.

When they finished the team activities of psychological health, they believed they fully understood not only the importance of effective communication and team construction, but the profound meaning of responsibility.

Ma Yanjing, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Affairs, hosted a lecture themed “Teaching Standards and Requirements.” Later on, the newly hired faculty mentioned that more emphasis should be put on teaching and research in their future careers, and more efforts should be made towards reflection and learning in teaching. They were encouraged to do more reading, listen to lessons and study hard. Therefore, they will gradually develop a good work model of “identifying problems, finding solutions, verifying through practices, rectifying and applying in teaching.”

Teachers had a heated discussion after they watched a lecture online given by Professor Wu Nengbiao, Director of the Office of Academic Affairs at Southwest University, on “Features and Construction of Excellent Courses.” They learned how to map out cultivation plans, arrange curriculum and carry out classroom teaching in a scientific and reasonable way.

The job training for new hires is a major part of our work for teachers and in teaching development. With the goal of “adapting to the environment, and strengthening basic teaching skills,” it involves recognition from the top, professional cognition and teaching ability. The training plays an important role in helping new hires to learn about JISU’s history, agree with and implement campus culture and spirit and improve professional skills, laying a foundation for building a high-quality teaching team.
