1. Approved by the Ministry of Education, our school was renamed as Jilin International Studies University (JISU).
2. President Qin He was elected as a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and a member of the 12th Executive Committee of the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF).
3. The Foreign Languages & Literature and Pedagogy were rated as high-level disciplines with characteristics in the 13th five-year period accredited by Jilin Province. The English, Japanese, Translation, International Economics & Trade, and Italian majors were rated as high-level majors with characteristics in the 13thfive-year period accredited by Jilin Province.
4. The project, entitledSorting and Research for Historical Material Told by Japanese Veterans During the 14 years of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, was granted the qualification to set up a research project supported by the National Social Science Foundation.The project, entitledComprehensive Reform of Foreign Languages Teaching: The Construction and Exploration of "Global Village"TeachingModelwon the first prize in the Jilin Teaching Achievement Award.
5. The School of Central-Eastern European Languages was established in JISU. In addition, four new majors were added, including Persian, Techniques of Broadcasting and Anchoring, Art Education and Primary Education.
6.Jilin Province Teachers & Teaching Development Demo-centerat JISU successfully passed the acceptance inspection.
7. The university was authorized to enroll international students supported by the Silk Road Scholarship. It was also shortlisted as the national “International Exchange Project for Excellent Graduates” and “Pre-career Training Project” for overseas Chinese teachers sent by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. Our university also joined the University Strategy Alliance of Belt and Road.
8. Jilin Provincial Association for Translators and Interpreters settled in JISU. JISU hosted the first "China’s International Seminar on Major Construction and Talents Cultivation of Sight Language Interpreting" and "Changbai Mountain Academic Summit: the Second Private University Presidents Summit of Jilin Province."
9. JISU ranked in theTop Private Universities list of Chinain 2018 and gained the good reputation ofsix-star private university in China. JISU has even retained the titleTop Private Universities of Foreign Languagesin China for five times. And it also topped the rankinglist of Private Universities in Northeast Chinain 2018 in terms of comprehensive strength.
10. A JISU teacher won the First Prize in theStar Teacher Contestheld by FLTRP. JISU students have been receiving fruitful achievements including the First Prize inthe 11thNational College Student Computer Design Competition, the title ofStar Interpreterinthe 7thLSCAT Cup National Interpreting Contest(Heilongjiang and Jilin Division), the championship of Women’s Basketball and Volleyball inthe 11thCollege Students’ Sports Meeting, the First Prize in the Jilin provinceTai Chi Competition, first place in team swimming tournament, and the title ofRole Model of Voluntary Servicein Jilin Province. Additionally, JISU students Xu Chunyang was rated asBest Ten College Students in Changchunand Su Ke was rated asGood Person of Changchun.
